Our Thought for the Month

Relax!

Summer is a time for change.
For parents or grandparents normal routines cease as the holidays begin. Summer for me brings back childhood memories of long hot, hazy days, of ripe corn fields, walks in the countryside—carefree and idyllic. A time to relax and unwind.

Those memories may not be a reality now as schedules are juggled to fit around the children, often leading to an increase of work load and stress.
Whether we are able to wind down or not, it is still good to spend some time re-evaluating what we are doing and where we are going. God wants us to live carefree lives every day through the year, not just on holiday.

1 Peter 5 v7 tells us to cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. He cares so that we don’t have to, he wants to carry our burdens. Nothing is too hard or big for him and as we learn to leave our cares and concerns with him the “summertime experience “ can be all year.

An elderly lady was once asked if she slept well.
“ Yes, like a log every night “ she replied.
“ What is your secret ?“ asked the inquirer.
“ Well I read somewhere in the Bible that God neither slumbers nor sleeps, so I fathomed out that there was no point both of us being awake. I give him my concerns and then go to sleep” !!

Have a wonderful carefree summer –and beyond.
